OB/GYN

Obstetric and gynecologic sonography involves the examination of the pelvic region of female patients and fetuses with ultrasound technology. Commonly referred to as OB/GYN ultrasound, this type of sonogram has become an indispensable obstetric tool used to determine the condition of a pregnant woman and her fetus, as well as to visualize female organs such as the ovaries and uterus.

OB/GYN sonograms are radiation free and can be performed without harmful side effects to pregnant women or their babies. This type of exam can provide important information on several aspects and conditions, the most common are:

  • Diagnosis and confirmation of early pregnancy or multiple pregnancies.
  • Evaluation of the position of the fetus and placenta location.
  • Determination of gestational age, fetus size and amount of amniotic fluid around the fetus.
  • Diagnosis of congenital abnormalities and malformations in the fetus.
  • Identification of ovarian cysts, masses, and uterine fibroids.
  • Pelvic organs assessment.
  • Diagnosis and management of gynecologic problems such as endometriosis, leiomyoma or adenomyosis.
  • Detection and screening of endometrial and ovarian cancer.
